Postdoctoral Researchers

Independent research begins early in the graduate program, which is designed to prepare students for careers in higher education and research in either academic or non-academic settings.

  • Jonathan Aguinaga

    Jonathan Aguinaga

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

I am generally interested in how environmental and social contexts influence behavioral decision-making at the individual- and group-levels. I often develop video recording systems that facilitate the use of automated tracking pipelines, computer vision, and machine learning. I like to tinker with things.

  • Mary Burak

    Mary Burak

    Postdoctoral Research Associate; IBES affiliated

Interested in understanding how wildlife can thrive in unprotected landscapes, specifically using spatial and molecular ecology to determine how conservation strategies can be designed.

  • Jiangtian Chen

    Jiangtian Chen

    Senior Research Associate

Aging regulation by non-autonomous signaling from Drosophila gut enteroendocrine cells.

  • David Cuban

    David Cuban

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

I am interested in using basic physical rules to investigate convergent evolution in animal feeding, locomotion, and other interactions with their environment. My current work focuses on exploring fundamental muscle architectures that affect energy storage, force generation, and power output. When not I'm not thinking of animals I'm out windsurfing, sailing, and rock climbing.

  • Victoria Gomez

    Victoria Gomez

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

Victoria graduated with her PhD from Indiana University School of Medicine in the program of Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiology (Education Track). Her teaching experience includes graduate and medical school courses in human cadaveric anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, developmental anatomy, and undergraduate-level Human Anatomy & Physiology. As an anatomy education researcher, her current work includes investigating international perspectives of anatomy outreach through a structured Delphi process, alongside scholarly work informed by the needs of Brown University’s anatomy curricula.

  • Carson Hedberg

    Carson Hedberg

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow

I am broadly interested in how human impacts influence mammal diversity and community structure across varying temporal and spatial scales, and how insights from the fossil record can be applied to modern conservation initiatives.

  • Alexander Karnish

    Alexander Karnish

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

I'm interested in the costs of participating in mutualism, a species interaction in which both species benefit, and how changes in those costs impact the immediate behavior of participants as well as the long-term evolution and stability of mutualisms.

  • Luke Larter

    Luke Larter

    Postdoctoral Research Associate; IBES affiliated
  • Joseph Mascaro

    Joseph Mascaro

    Postdoctoral Research Associate; IBES affiliated

I’m improving space-based sensor technology by peering into the seasonal rhythms of vegetation. With lasers and AI. What could go wrong?

  • Miriam Miyagi

    Miriam Miyagi

    Postdoctoral Research Associate; CCMB affiliated

Mia's work is focused on critical analyses of how genomic sex differences claims are made, how gendered effects can impact the inference of sex-biased human demographic history, and in applications of coalescent theory to detecting admixture and introgression.

  • Saswat Kumar Mohanty

    Saswat Kumar Mohanty

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

I am a biochemist investigating interorgan communication between the heart and kidney with age, focusing on how endocrine dysfunction induces renal fibrosis, using Drosophila and animal models to develop impactful solutions that promote healthy aging.

  • Xavier Roca Rada

    Xavier Roca Rada

    Postdoctoral Research Associate; CCMB affiliated

Xavier’s research focuses on human ancient DNA with a particular interest in population genomics, demography, and evolution.

  • Ezequiel Vanderhoeven

    Ezequiel Vanderhoeven

    Postdoctoral Research Associate; IBES affiliated

My research explores disease ecology at the interface of wildlife and domestic species, focusing on wild mammal parasitology through taxonomic identification and molecular techniques.

  • Wenjing Zheng

    Wenjing Zheng

    Senior Research Associate

    Research Gate Profile

     Fly genetics and cell biology.
